It's been a while since I've gone on a proper hike, for obvious reasons, and with the temperatures recently being so high, you could argue I may have been better off staying indoors...but on the other hand, sometimes you just gotta get out there! A friend of mine and me went on a short hike this morning to kinda get back in the groove of it. Most of what I've been doing recently, even if I log them as hikes and count the miles trekked, are more like nature walks or birding expeditions, particularly because of their ease and flat ground. I wanted at least to do something a little bit more than that now that I'm hopefully feeling better.
We decided to go in the morning so as to avoid a lot of the oppressive heat, and while it was hot and humid still, a lot of the shade cover prevented me from feeling completely worn out. In fact I was quite surprised by my performance here; this is a relatively easy hike but I was expected it to be a little more challenging than it was! So that was nice. Perhaps it was just because the last time I tried it, I was suffering from a great bout of asthma and could barely do anything without huffing and puffing. I don't know where that came from, or where it went, but I hope it's gone for good!
I kinda forgot about taking pictures on this hike, though there wasn't all that much to look at, it was just a nice pleasant up and down through a nice reservation. I definitely heard a lot of birdsong, though, so I gotta make sure I come back here next time with my camera! And, of course, make sure I wake up early, too...There was a big storm later on though, and after it produced the most magnificent rainbow! So I included it below, too. :3
